Ma Mountain Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival

The Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival has been held since 2000 to promote the excellence of Masan chrysanthemums and boost their consumption, making it one of Changwon's signature autumn festivals. Masan is where six farming households began Korea's first commercial chrysanthemum cultivation in the Hoewon-dong area in 1961, and in 1972 it became the first place in Korea to export chrysanthemums to Japan. Thanks to the mild climate and cultivation know-how built up over the years, visitors can experience the history of Masan's chrysanthemum industry along with a wide variety of chrysanthemum displays at the festival. The 26th Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival takes place around 3.15 Marine Nuri Park, Hapo Waterfront Park, and the Marine New City area. Centered on the chrysanthemum exhibition, the festival features a multimedia fireworks show, floating fireworks on the water, a chrysanthemum song contest, and more. There is also an indie music festival, performances by local artists, a chrysanthemum bonsai exhibition, chrysanthemum-themed dance and cheerleading, and hands-on programs, letting visitors enjoy chrysanthemum art, performances, and food together against a backdrop of the sea.
