Semiwon Suryeon Cultural Festival

Semiwon Water Lily Culture Festival is a signature autumn garden festival held at Semiwon in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi-do. Surrounded on three sides by Paldang Lake, Semiwon is a garden of water and flowers that combines traditional East Asian garden design with a rich variety of aquatic plants — it's officially Gyeonggi-do's first designated regional garden. The festival centers on Semiwon's signature water lilies, offering a distinctive autumn garden scene that includes the Victoria water lily (known as the "queen of flowers"), exotic Australian water lilies, and vividly colored tropical varieties. Visitors can admire the lilies blooming across the water's surface while enjoying a relaxing escape from the city. In 2026, Semiwon will also host the Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo, bringing even richer garden programming. The area is historically tied to Jeong Yak-yong, a Silhak scholar of the late Joseon period, and his floating pontoon bridge, and today includes attractions like the Lotus Flower Museum, the Jangdokdae Fountain, Sehanjeong Pavilion, and the reconstructed pontoon bridge, making Semiwon a year-round cultural and ecological destination.
