About
The Hapcheon Hwangto Hanwoo Festival celebrates Hapcheon County's local beef brand, Hapcheon Hwangto Hanwoo. First held in 2023, it has become an annual fall festival and this year marks its fourth edition. Hapcheon Hwangto Hanwoo has been a registered trademark since 1999, jointly managed by Hapcheon County and the Hapcheon Livestock Cooperative. The cattle are raised for more than 16 months on special feed mixed with hwangto (yellow ocher clay), producing beef known for its tender texture and rich flavor. The festival is organized and run by the Hapcheon Livestock Cooperative with support from Hapcheon County, and each year it has drawn bigger crowds and sales. About 30,000 people attended the first festival in October 2023, and by the third edition in 2025, roughly 79,000 visitors came over three days, generating 1.2 billion won in sales and making it one of Hapcheon's signature events. Building on this momentum, the fourth festival is expected to be even larger, with an expanded lineup of programs.
