About
This annual cultural performance festival is centered on gugak, traditional Korean music, which is a cultural heritage of Yeongdong County. It honors the musical achievements of Nangye Park Yeon and supports the promotion of traditional culture and arts. The 57th Yeongdong Nangye Gugak Festival builds on the success of the 2025 Yeongdong World Gugak Expo, aiming to promote gugak—a treasured Korean heritage—to the world and contribute to a second wave of Hallyu. As Korea's only gugak festival, it offers a variety of gugak performances and hands-on programs that pass on traditional culture and arts in a modern way, while developing programs suited to local characteristics to turn the festival into a regional tourism resource. It also serves as a gathering that fosters community harmony by raising residents' cultural awareness and encouraging their voluntary participation.
