About
The Ureuk Culture Festival began in 1971 as the Ureuk Arts Festival. It carries on the artistic spirit of the great musician Ureuk — his song, dance, and music — and stands as Chungju's signature culture and arts festival. The 54th Ureuk Culture Festival runs under the slogan "Carrying Chungju's Tomorrow in Ureuk's Resonance," with a newtro concept that reinterprets the culture and sensibility of the 1980s and '90s in a modern way. Visitors can enjoy performances blending tradition and contemporary art, art competitions, exhibitions and hands-on programs, plus participatory events involving teens, young people, citizens, and local artists. At the festival grounds you can see and try out creative works by local youth and artists, and there's also a market selling Chungju's agricultural specialties and local food. The 54th Ureuk Culture Festival, where past culture and present-day art come together, takes place from October 8 to 11, 2026, around Tangeum Park and the Chungju Culture & Arts Center.
