About
Held every October since 2016, the Jeju Flatfish Festival is Korea's only event dedicated to flatfish (gwanghoe), promoting the quality of Jeju's farmed flatfish and encouraging more people to eat it. Visitors can try a wide range of flatfish dishes at low prices, including sashimi, sushi, fish cakes, tteokbokki, and pajeon, all showcasing the taste and quality of Jeju flatfish. As Jeju's signature seafood festival, it sells flatfish dishes made with fish raised by local fish farming cooperatives at affordable prices, earning praise from both residents and tourists. The festival also features a flatfish singing contest, a teen dance competition, a kids' drawing contest, and hands-on experiences like catching flatfish and flounder by hand, giving residents, tourists, and children alike plenty of fun ways to join in.
