Dongnae Walled Town History Festival

Starting with the first Chungnyeolje ceremony in 1995, the Dongnae Eupseong History Festival has continued for 32 years as Busan Dongnae-gu's representative history-education festival. Now selected as one of Korea's official "2026–2027 Cultural Tourism Festivals," the 32nd edition invites visitors into the vivid events of 1592. The festival opens grandly with the "Dongnae Busa Procession," a parade featuring hundreds of participants. A highlight is the "Battle of Dongnae Fortress Reenactment Musical," staged at the actual historic battle site, where media art combines with polished performance to convey the overwhelming emotion of that last stand. Visitors can also join the "Dongnae Three-Strand Tug-of-War," a communal event that brings everyone together, along with trendy hands-on activities like an outdoor escape room and a character-cookie-making experience at Byeolmidang. At "Dongnae Market," you can grab brass coins and dive into a recreated Joseon-era marketplace, fully experiencing the daily life of the fortress town's residents. Blending history with the present through its rich and varied lineup, the Dongnae Eupseong History Festival promises to be the most special memory of this autumn.
