About
The 14th German Village Beer Festival is one of Namhae County's signature cultural tourism festivals, built around the exotic scenery of German Village and the historic meaning behind it. German Village was settled by Korean miners and nurses who worked in Germany during the 1960s–70s and returned home afterward, and it still carries the history of those workers and of Korea–Germany exchange. Taking Germany's famous Oktoberfest as its inspiration, the festival features German-style food and beer, music, a parade, and hands-on programs. By weaving the history of Korean workers in Germany and German Village's identity into the festival itself, it highlights the region's historical and cultural value and is growing into a global cultural tourism festival that both Korean and international visitors can enjoy together.
