About
The Saenggeo Jincheon Cultural Festival has continued since 1979 and is a beloved local cultural festival representing Jincheon County in Chungcheongbuk-do. It's held every autumn along the Baekgokcheon streamside in Jincheon-eup. The festival aims to pass on and develop Jincheon's local culture, giving residents and visitors the chance to enjoy arts and culture, while also promoting community harmony and boosting the local economy through the area's history and heritage. Programs during the festival include a folk arts competition, a local food contest, a ssireum (Korean wrestling) tournament, and more, alongside performances, exhibitions, hands-on activities, and food markets for all generations to enjoy. Since Jincheon has long had broad fields and irrigation facilities that helped farming techniques flourish and produce thrive, the festival also serves as a marketplace for local agricultural and specialty products. Tens of thousands of visitors attend each year, making it Jincheon's largest cultural event.
